John Ligertwood was a founding member of Barra Energy who now works on a part time basis as an associate consultant.
Alex has over 30 year’s experience in the energy sector starting with Schlumberger as a Trainee Well Test Technician in 1989. He gained significant experience in all types of well testing before being dedicated to Texaco North Sea and Elf Exploration to work on their Central North Sea HPHT developments. In 2000 Alex became UK Field Service Manager for Schlumberger Testing Services. In 2002 he moved to Norway as Field Service Manager for Testing Services and later took over the running of Oilphase in Norway. Alex moved to Kazakhstan in 2004 taking up the position of WCP Manager for Kazakhstan land before leaving Schlumberger in 2005.
Alex took on an independent consultant role which gave him the opportunity to work for Multi International and UK based independent operators gaining significant experience in the well life cycle. Alex along with two others formed Barra Energy in 2015 to provide quality engineering solutions, operational management support and dedicated experienced person to the energy sector. He continues to work as part of the team successfully delivering projects safely and within budget.
Alex enjoys watching football, is an Aberdeen and Scotland fan and is a member of the Scotland Supporters Club. He enjoys snowboarding, travelling and social gatherings with friends.

In her roles within these departments, she closely worked with Senior internal and external management, and suppliers ensuring project partners and key stakeholder requirements were met within the UK, Norway and Europe whilst promoting business relationships ensuring Reputation Management of the Organisation and Projects.
Kim is an excellent communicator who is passionate and focused on providing a high level of service. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends loves to travel and attend sporting events/concerts.
Billy McNeil is a Senior Completion and Well Test Engineer with over 25 years working in the energy sector. After graduating from Robert Gordons Institute of Technology with a BSC (Hons) in Mathematical Sciences with Computing Billy held several positions before joining Expro North Sea as a Product Engineer. Billy moved to Axis well Technology taking up a position as a Completion and Well Test Engineer before moving into a Production Technology role.
In 2006 Billy became an independent consultant taking up a Senior Completion Engineer role at Total E&P UK. While working in this position he gained extensive knowledge in HPHT well test and completion operations rising to HPHT Completion Team Leader.
Billy was a founding member of Barra Energy and has worked with us in an associate consultant role since 2019.
Billy has played football to a high standard and continues to enjoy playing the game. He supports Rangers and Scotland and is a member of the Scotland Supporters Club.
Kevin Masson is a Senior Energy Consultant focusing on wellheads, Xmas trees and associated operations. Kevin started his energy career as a Trainee Service Technician with Cameron in 2001, covering both surface and subsea equipment, progressing to Senior Offshore Service Technician before moving to Chevron as a Senior Subsea Operations Supervisor in their Energy Technology Centre. This position allowed Kevin to work globally on high profile deep water projects and implement technology in an operational environment.
In 2014 Kevin became an independent consultant taking up a position as Senior Well Intervention Subsea Supervisor for Maersk Oil UK. Kevin supervised subsea development wells, workovers and well abandonments with Maersk subsea team before being assigned to the Culzean HPHT project as Wellhead and Tree Superintendent. On Culzean, he was responsible for wellhead system design optimisation, delivery, and operations, including wellhead facility interface and commissioning focal point.
Kevin joined Barra Energy in 2020 in an associate consultant role focusing on subsea equipment and operations management and is passionate about integrating innovation and technology to help drive efficient and safe operations.
He enjoys family time, winter sports, and outdoor pursuits when not at work.
John Ligertwood was a founding member of Barra Energy who now works on a part time basis as an associate consultant. He has had a distinguished career in the oil & gas industry starting with Flopetrol in the early 80’s. From there he held management roles in Schlumberger and Expro before moving to Total E&P UK in 1997. As Senior Completion Engineer for the Elgin Franklin HPHT development John was a key member of the team focusing on completion design, perforating and clean up strategy and operations. He became Completion Team Leader and then Well Examiner before leaving Total E&P UK in 2018.
John is recognised as an HPHT specialist and has been involved in several SPE papers on the subject.
John enjoys playing and watching football, he supports Buckie Thistle and Rangers.
